Ellen Ama Daaku, a\u00a0member of the communications team of the New Patriotic Party has reacted to the ongoing brouhaha in the country about the National Cathedral project.<\/p>\n

During a discussion on TV3 New Day show about the current issues on the National Cathedral project, Ellen Daaku made it clear that project has to be built because a lot of money have been injected into it already. She added that a lot has been spent on the project already and if the project comes to halt now, it will be a waste of resources.<\/p>\n
A lot of people have reacted to this comment made by Ellen Daaku. The general secretary for the Convention People’s Party(CPP), Nana Yaa Jantuah, who was also a guest on TV3 New Day show reacted immediately to this comment from Ellen Daaku. She made it clear that the country does not need any cathedral. This is because, people go to church each Sunday to worship God and it will seem needless if a Cathedral is built for the same purpose. In her opinion, the project must be canceled.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think we need the cathedral now. Every Sunday everybody goes to church and so what is the use of the cathedral<\/strong>” she stated.<\/p>\n Click here to watch the video.<\/p>\n Some social media users have also reacted and below are some reactions.<\/p>\n The issues on the National Cathedral project started when the government gave out some amount of money to keep the project going at its infancy stage. Government described this as ‘seed money’. This seed money was never communicated to parliament or anyone as it was done secretly. It has however being discovered that that an amount close to \u00a2400 million has been spent on the National Cathedral project. Some were used to pay the architects who drew the map of the site.<\/p>\n Most Ghanaians are now shifting the blame from the government to the board of trustees of the project. These board of trustees are great men of God who have established their own churches. Ghanaians want the men of God to break silence on whether or not, an amount of \u00a2400 million has been spent on the project.<\/p>\n When the president told Ghanaians that he will build a Cathedral for God, he made it clear that government will not use the taxes of Ghanaians to build such project.
