The increment is expected to take effect from September 1, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued on August 30, 2022, signed by the Managing Director, Samuel Mahama, the ECG stated that, \u201cit is important to note that the average percentage increase is on energy consumption only, therefore the addition of statutory levies and other fixed charges will increase the average percentage announced by the PURC.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement further noted that, \u201cIn effect, individual customers\u2019 tariff percentage increase will depend on customer classification and consumption category.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"666\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/ECG-release.jpg\" alt=\"Tarrif increase: Consumers will pay higher percentages than PURC announced - ECG\" class=\"wp-image-10032162041\"   title=\"Tarrif increase: Consumers will pay higher percentages than PURC announced - ECG\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>The ECG therefore entreated customers, \u201cto take charge of their personal consumption by conserving energy which will lead to spending less on electricity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The release further stated that exclusive lifeline beneficiaries\u2019 consumption has been pegged at 30kWh, according to the new bands for residential customers.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, ECG has established customer help desks in all its district and customer service centers to assist, explain and reconcile any challenges experienced by customers.<\/p>\n<p>                <!-- Post Tags --><\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has said that consumers will pay more than the percentage increase announced by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC).
