{"id":1193963,"date":"2022-08-29T15:48:42","date_gmt":"2022-08-29T15:48:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/29\/entrepreneur-who-engaged-in-illicit-gambling-is-sentenced\/"},"modified":"2022-08-29T15:48:42","modified_gmt":"2022-08-29T15:48:42","slug":"entrepreneur-who-engaged-in-illicit-gambling-is-sentenced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/29\/entrepreneur-who-engaged-in-illicit-gambling-is-sentenced\/","title":{"rendered":"Entrepreneur who engaged in illicit gambling is sentenced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<article>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/6857d6b0e3ed41ae9bc4da1d74eaae47\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Assin-Fosu District Court sentenced businessman Isaac Eyison, 29, to nine months in prison for participating in illicit gaming.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The suspect was accused with illegal gambling in public and running a game of chance without a license after being apprehended at the Assin Fosu Municipal truck stop.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Later, before the Abdul Majeed Illiasu-presiding Assin Fosu District Court, he entered a plea of guilty to the accusations made against him.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Inspector Gilbert Ayongo, the prosecutor, said the court that the convict was apprehended as a result of increased police patrols to crack down on some persistent unlawful activities in the neighborhood.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecutor, on Sunday, June 6, at around 8:00 a.m., Assin-Fosu police gathered information regarding the convict&#8217;s unlawful gambling activities, which had drawn substantial patronage.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A police patrol squad led by Chief Inspector Johnson Dzikunu then arrived on the scene swiftly, however many customers and onlookers fled when they saw the police.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor claimed that the police were able to apprehend the defendant and recover from him five pieces of black square-shaped wood tied with a black rubber band, GHC510.00 cash, three mobile phones, watches, and eyeglasses.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During questioning, the prisoner was unable to present a license or other proof of authority to support his illicit gambling activities and was therefore imprisoned on that charge.<\/p>\n<p>Content created and supplied by: @NanaKwame (via  Opera<br \/>\nNews )<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<p class=\"copyright hide\">\n<span class=\"content\">    ,  .   ,     .
