Sweet Adjeley began the narration by taking us into the Post Colonial Years of Ghana the then Gold Coast.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, a British company, Unilever, introduced the frozen dessert called the Wall\u2019s Ice cream to the people of Ghana. The Company was located in the Greater Accra Region densely populated by the Ga people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vendors rode on bicycles and tricycles from house to house where the g\u00e1s symbolized anything with good taste as Ab\u00e9l\u00e9 (corn i.e sweet corn) so any time they tasted the sweetness of the Wall\u2019s ice cream they recited \u201ce\u00f1goor, tamor Ab\u00e9l\u00e9 \u201d meaning sweet as sweet corn\u2026 b\u025b ole Swititintins Ab\u00e9l\u00e9 Ab\u00e9l\u00e9\u201d, she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInterestingly, in the \u201960s and \u201970s hit Ga highlife musicians would pause at intervals of the instrumentals just to say Ab\u00e9l\u00e9, Ab\u00e9l\u00e9 Sokoo\u2026 Ab\u00e9l\u00e9, just to tell their listeners how swiftly the music is penetrating their cores in the same fashion they described how sweet the ice cream was.
