{"id":1193116,"date":"2022-08-28T20:15:14","date_gmt":"2022-08-28T20:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/28\/man-killed-by-lion-at-accra-zoo-in-an-alleged-attempt-to-steal-cub\/"},"modified":"2022-08-28T20:15:14","modified_gmt":"2022-08-28T20:15:14","slug":"man-killed-by-lion-at-accra-zoo-in-an-alleged-attempt-to-steal-cub","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/28\/man-killed-by-lion-at-accra-zoo-in-an-alleged-attempt-to-steal-cub\/","title":{"rendered":"Man killed by lion at Accra Zoo in an alleged attempt to steal cub"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-text\" style=\"line-height: 2; letter-spacing: -0.5px;font-size: 18px;\">\n<p>                        <!--p class=\"ky_saved_articles_link\"><span class=\"ky_saved_articles_hide\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\" class=\"ky_saved_articles_img\" alt=\"Man killed by lion at Accra Zoo in an alleged attempt to steal cub\" title=\"Man killed by lion at Accra Zoo in an alleged attempt to steal cub\"><\/span> Bookmark<\/p-->\n<p>A middle-aged man, believed to be in his thirties, has been killed by a lion at the Accra Zoo.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Forestry Commission, the intruder was spotted around the premises on Sunday at about 12 noon, after he managed to scale the zoo\u2019s security fence. <\/p>\n<p>In what is suspected to be an attempt to steal a cub, the intruder, who is yet to be identified, was pounced upon by the lions and was subsequently devoured.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued by the Forestry Commission, authorities disclosed that the intruder was attacked and injured \u2018within the inner fencing of the enclosure\u2019. <\/p>\n<p>This eventually lead to his untimely death, due to the injuries he sustained. <\/p>\n<p>His body has since been deposited at the morgue. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1jU1jxQ6cjl6nu87s0eGuLHs1SL7v_8zn\/preview\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" allow=\"autoplay\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Forestry Commission says the lioness and the two cubs \u2018remain secured in the enclosure at the Accra Zoo\u2019. <\/p>\n<p>The Commission stressed that no lion has escaped from the zoo, as a result of the incident. <\/p>\n<p>Following this development, the Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Benito Owusu Bio, together with the Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, John Allotey, have paid a visit to the zoo, to ensure that, \u2018all facilities remain secure\u2019, the statement concluded. <\/p>\n<p>                <!-- Post Tags --><\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A middle-aged man, believed to be in his thirties, has been killed by a lion at the Accra Zoo.
