{"id":1192477,"date":"2022-08-27T21:37:50","date_gmt":"2022-08-27T21:37:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/27\/imf-sends-important-notice-to-ghanaians\/"},"modified":"2022-08-27T21:37:50","modified_gmt":"2022-08-27T21:37:50","slug":"imf-sends-important-notice-to-ghanaians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/27\/imf-sends-important-notice-to-ghanaians\/","title":{"rendered":"IMF Sends Important Notice To Ghanaians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<article>\n<p>The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, has sent an important message to Ghanaians.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/b1b8b2c2348f41bda7d04e3c68b28fa1\"\/><\/p>\n<p>A tweet from the IMF Director reads;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Constructive meeting w\/ Finance Minister Ofori-Atta &#038; his team on Ghana&#8217;s economic challenges and the way forward.<\/p>\n<p>We are ready to do our part to help the authorities stabilize the economy, lay the ground for stronger growth &#038; help the most vulnerable.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to the message, IMF is set to meet Ken Ofori-Atta and Ghana&#8217;s economic team on the IMF bailout. <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/6a3f6d1cf99842319f37d6d2b2ef496f\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On 1st July, 2022, the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, gave a directive to the Ministry of Finance, to commence an engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF or the Fund) to support Ghana\u2019s economic program.<\/p>\n<p>This decision was taken amidst economic crisis which the country is going through. The engagement with IMF begun on Tuesday, 22nd July 2022. A major reason for seeking IMF bailout is said to be the effects of COVID-19 and the Russian -Ukraine war.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/b66e0863316a4c568b5c1ad4e685235f\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Other Ghanaians believe that it is mismanagement of the economy by the government that is why Ghana is now seeking a bailout from IMF.<\/p>\n<p>The notice by the IMF <span style=\"color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87);\">Kristalina Georgieva was shared on Gabby Otchere-Darko&#8217;s official Facebook page.
