The Electoral Commission has denied allegations that its Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, sent spiritualists to Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meetings to cast out alleged demons.<\/p>\n

This follows allegations made by the NDC’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, that the EC boss hired the services of a spiritualist to cast out suspected demons during a meeting to discuss political parties.<\/p>\n

The outspoken politician is said to have made the remarks on Kumasi-based Otec FM on Friday, August 19, 2022, while explaining why the NDC had boycotted recent IPAC (Inter-Party Advisory Committee) meetings.<\/p>\n

Due to disagreements with the EC Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, the opposition NDC has refused to attend IPAC meetings since April 2021 to discuss electoral system issues, electoral process reforms.<\/p>\n

However, the Electoral Commission dismissed the statement as false in a statement issued on Monday, August 22, 2022.<\/p>\n

“The Electoral Commission has been alerted to a statement made by Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary of the NDC, claiming that the commission’s chairperson, Jean Mensa, brought spiritualists to an IPAC meeting to cast out demons.”<\/p>\n

For the benefit of the general public, this is false. It never happened. IPAC meetings are intended to discuss issues concerning Ghana’s electoral system. This is precisely what happens there. “The EC explained in a statement that political parties, civil society, and development partners all attend IPAC meetings.”<\/p>\n

The EC thus challenged Mr. Asiedu Nketia to prove his claims because they lacked credibility.<\/p>\n

The EC concluded in its statement, “We state categorically that Mr. Nketia’s assertion is false, and we challenge him to prove it.”<\/p>\n
