The Police have arrested the 1st Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Northern Region in connection with the attack on the party\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
Alhaji Rufai Vielim was arrested on Tuesday, August 23.<\/p>\n
According to sources, Alhaji Rufai has admitted to the Police in his statement that the attackers were in his house on Monday, August 22.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, he denied sanctioning the act.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It is further alleged that Alhaj Rufai Vielim objected to the decision of the NDC\u2019s Regional Executive Committee to endorse Ali Adolf as the acting Regional Chairman, hence the attack.<\/p>\n
Background\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Some youth of the NDC in Tamale vandalised the party\u2019s Regional Office.<\/p>\n Their action is in protest of a decision to let one of the party\u2019s Vice Chairmen, Mr. Ali Adolf act as Regional Chairman.<\/p>\n The party\u2019s leadership in the Region took a decision that Mr. Adolf acts in the interim following the death of the party\u2019s Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila.<\/p>\n But this did not go down well with the youth of the party in the region.\u00a0<\/p>\n As a result, they arrived at the party office and ordered the workers to leave on Tuesday, August 23.\u00a0<\/p>\n They then locked up the place.<\/p>\n They subsequently vandalised chairs and other properties belonging to the party.<\/p>\n <\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Police have arrested the 1st Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Northern Region in connection with the attack on the party\u2019s office.
