Renowned media personality, Kwasi Kyei Darkwah, popuarly known as \u2018KKD\u2019 says the NPP\u2019s \u2018breaking the eight\u2019 mantra is \u2018stupidity\u2019.<\/p>\n
According to him, the widely chorused slogan by the ruling New Patriotic Party is not needed; especially when Ghanaians are currently urging government to deliver on its promises. <\/p>\n
In an interview with Benjamin Akakpo on JoyNews\u2019 AM Show <\/strong>on Wednesday, the seasoned broadcaster ridiculed the mantra, and questioned its relevance. <\/p>\n \u201cWhat is break the eight? \u2026 I think that it is stupidity that anybody even opened his mouth to say that. Be purposeful, be intentional. I think it is stupidity that anybody even coined that term. You have married a woman for eight years. <\/p>\n The woman is displeased. She\u2019s thinking of leaving you. It is at that point that you now say, everything you\u2019ve been asking for, I\u2019m now coming to do?\u201d, he quizzed. <\/p>\n In expressing his displeasure with the current regime, he also urged estranged members of the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP) to come together to present a third force in Ghana\u2019s politics. <\/p>\n This he said, is necessary to break the duopoly of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). <\/p>\n The seasoned broadcaster has been a sensation in the last couple of days, following his outburst against the government. <\/p>\n In an interview on GTV\u2019s Breakfast Show on Wednesday, August 17, he expressed his surprise at government for constantly employing the services of a co-founded by the Finance Minister \u2013 Data Bank Financial Services \u2013 as advisors for some of Ghana\u2019s international loan transactions. <\/p>\n His outburst on the show resonated with many Ghanaians who have since asked leaders to avoid occupying a public office that can cause conflict of interest.<\/p>\n KKD\u2019s comments also went viral, with many social media users applauding his bold and fearless opinions.<\/p>\n But the Ministry of Finance has dismissed the claims that Databank and Black Star Brokerage were handpicked by the Finance Ministry and the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to act as Bond Market Specialists for government bond issuance, hence benefiting from those transactions.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, a section of the populace have also questioned the motive behind his recent heated outburst against government and the current state of affairs in the country. <\/p>\n According to some of his critics, he has been witnessing the rots in the country for years, and thus they do not understand his silence until now. <\/p>\n But reacting to this, he told host, Benjamin Akakpo that he has been compelled to break his silence due to the rate at which things are getting bad in the country. <\/p>\n In his submissions, he added that he is unfazed by the numerous death threats he has received from politicians after speaking \u201ctruth\u201d to power.<\/p>\n
