Discussion took to a heated level this morning, Monday, August 22, 2022 in the studios of GHOne as Serwaa Amihere led her panelists into discussing some trending issues. One of the issues of concern was the matter regarding to Kwasi Kyei Darkwah\u2019s comments regarding conflict of interest. It can be recalled that last week during an interview, KKD fumed on live interview as he blamed Ken Ofori Atta for using his Databank to accrue certain bonds for Ghana and making money for himself in the process.<\/p>\n

Well, many NPP communicators and government officials have spoken against the comments of KKD. They argue that his comments lack evidence and spoken out of jealousy. Nana Fredua Ofori Atta has added his voice to those against what KKD said. While speaking on GHToday with Serwaa Amihere he noted that Ken Ofori Atta had done nothing wrong.<\/p>\n
Serwaa Amihere reminded him that Ken owed about 11% or more shares in Databank and so was bound to receive something as long as the bank continues to broker for the country. Fredua disagreed and said Ken might have shares but this doesn\u2019t mean he is the one running the and as such this doesn\u2019t constitute to conflict of interest.<\/p>\n

As Serwaa lambasted Nana Fredua with questions, he asked her if having shares in the means Ken is the one running the . Serwaa instead of answering as Nana wanted rather countered with more questions. This infuriated Fredua who told Serwaa that she needs to answer the question.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has shares; does this mean he is running the ? That is not the answer. If you were in an exam, that will not be the answer. Do the laws say he must relinquish his influence because he is going for a public position?\u201d Fredua said. Serwaa insisted that as host she isn\u2019t obliged to answer questions. Serwaa however insisted that having shares in a means one will be in a state of conflict when issues regarding the come to his desk.<\/p>\n
Since KKD made this bold statement, many others have questioned why Ofori Atta still has holdings in Databank. Despite the defense from Nana Fredua, can we take an argument from one Ofori Atta in defense of another Ofori Atta? Some have called on Ken to resign. Interestingly, Martin Kpebu has insisted that Ken might have more than 11% shares at Databank. If we choose to stick to even 11%, then it means that Ken might be making so much from the nation.<\/p>\n
Ken Ofori Atta has insisted in interviews that he doesn\u2019t take salaries, but many feels he makes so much from Ghana\u2019s involvement with Databank to even request for salary as Finance Minister. <\/p>\n
