The organisers of the Ghana Awards UK (GMA-UK) have announced that reggae\/afropop singer Kaiya from Guyana has been invited to perform at the awards ceremony slated for October 2022 in London.<\/p>\n
Kaiya released her debut,\u00a0\u2018<\/em>You Lost Me\u2019<\/em>\u00a0in March 2020 followed by another single,\u00a0\u2018<\/em>So Nice\u2019<\/em>.<\/em> She is currently working on her album with Esan Benzy, one of Guyana\u2019s top crossover performers.<\/p>\n The organisers said Kaiya will be performing alongside some selected award-winning Ghanaian gospel, hiplife, afrobeat and dancehall artistes who will be supported by some of the artistes nominated for awards this year.<\/p>\n She is expected to thrill the audience with some captivating songs from her forthcoming EP.<\/p>\n Now in their sixth year, the awards,\u00a0organised by\u00a0Alordia Promotions and West Coast UK, celebrate outstanding musical achievements by Ghanaian artistes at home and in the UK.<\/p>\n Black Sherif\u00a0leads this year\u2019s nominations with 11, followed by\u00a0KiDi\u00a0with 9 and\u00a0Kuami Eugene\u00a0with 7.<\/p>\n The three are also up for the coveted Artiste of the Year award, and face competition from last year\u2019s winner,\u00a0Diana Hamilton, as well as\u00a0King Promise,\u00a0Sarkodie,\u00a0Stonebwoy, Akwaboah and Celestine Donkor.<\/p>\n Kaiya who has performed on a number of international music platforms will visit Ghana this December to participate in this year\u2019s edition of the annual \u2018December in Ghana\u2019 events in Accra.<\/p>\n Born Keisha Thomas in Guyana, Kaiya, who developed a love for singing at a young age said Whitney Houston, Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, India Arie, Monica, Tanya Stephens, Destra Garcia, Allison Hinds influence her music style.<\/p>\n Kaiya who is signed to Linmart Media has plans of doing collaborations with number of international artistes, including Haiti-born rapper Wyclef and one day opens a stage for Chronix as she grows in her career.<\/p>\n BY George Clifford Owusu<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\t<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The organisers of the Ghana Awards UK (GMA-UK) have announced that reggae\/afropop singer Kaiya from Guyana has been invited to perform at the awards ceremony slated for October 2022 in London.
