The President, the government, or the Chief of Staff must stand their ground and find out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c President will listen to me, I am saying that fire the Commissioner-General, the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Support, the Commissioner of Customs, and the board to bring confidence back,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>Mr Awingobit made the pronouncement while contributing to the discussion on the alleged corruption activities involving the Labianca Group of Companies and the Customs Division.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on\u00a0<strong>JoyNews<\/strong>\u2019 PM Express, the Executive Secretary stated that it was unprofessional for GRA\u2019s Commissioner-General to dissociate himself from Col Kwadwo Damoah\u2019s comments against the Special Prosecutor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Commissioner-General is supposed to work with his Lieutenants and if you are there having issues with your Lieutenants\u2026 I don\u2019t know why Col. Damoah is still at post and you will issue a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs an institution, he should have accepted and said whatever my men have done, I have taken the blame. We apologise on his behalf and we will deal with our staff in-house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While commending the Office of the Special Prosecutor for undertaking such an investigation, Mr Awingobit held a contrary view to the finding that GRA\u2019s Commissioner-General was not away from the going-ons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Commissioner-General was aware that there were discounts given to importers. That there were rebates given to importers. The customs officers were having discretionary powers.
