{"id":1182800,"date":"2022-08-18T14:22:44","date_gmt":"2022-08-18T14:22:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/18\/its-unlikely-otto-addo-will-consider-asamoah-gyan-for-world-cup\/"},"modified":"2022-08-18T14:22:44","modified_gmt":"2022-08-18T14:22:44","slug":"its-unlikely-otto-addo-will-consider-asamoah-gyan-for-world-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/18\/its-unlikely-otto-addo-will-consider-asamoah-gyan-for-world-cup\/","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s unlikely Otto Addo will consider Asamoah Gyan for World Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"418\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Asamoah-Gyan-Ghana-Afcon-2019-696x418.jpg\"   alt=\"Asamoah Gyan\" title=\"Asamoah Gyan\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Asamoah Gyan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Vice President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Maurice Quansah, says head coach, Otto Addo, is unlikely to consider Asamoah Gyan for the Black Stars squad ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Ghana\u2019s all-time top scorer, Gyan, revealed in an interview with BBC Sports that he is keen on playing for the Black Stars at the World Cup to be staged in Qatar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnything can happen, it has happened before back in 1994 when Roger Milla came back from retirement to play in the World Cup,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dBut I haven\u2019t retired yet, I haven\u2019t announced my retirement, I have been out for almost two years now due to injuries and my body shutting down.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just need to get my body back in shape, so I have started training of course and I\u2019ll see how my body reacts to playing competitive football.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, speaking to Joy Sports, Mr Quansah said the former Sunderland goal poacher will not be fit in time to give Addo a selection headache.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wonder if he [Asamoah Gyan] will be able to get himself in that peak condition to get Otto Addo to look in his direction,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt his peak, he was a fantastic footballer. He gave his best to football and to the nation.
