You cut it down to make sure that you don\u2019t overburden yourself especially when revenue is not coming. If you not growing the economy, you must watch your spending,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" scrolling=\"no\" allow=\"autoplay\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/1326470689&#038;color=%23ff5500&#038;auto_play=false&#038;hide_related=false&#038;show_comments=true&#038;show_user=true&#038;show_reposts=false&#038;show_teaser=true&#038;visual=true\" width=\"100%\" height=\"300\" frameborder=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>On March 24, 2022, Government announced a 30% salary reduction for all Cabinet Ministers and heads of State-Owned Enterprises, effective April 2022 till the year ends.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mr. Ofori-Atta, revenue generated from these contributions would be deposited into the Consolidated Fund.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-myjoyonline-com wp-block-embed-myjoyonline-com\"\/>\n<p>In a televised national address on Thursday, March 24, he explained that this decision forms part of expenditure-cutting measures that will ensure the achievement of the fiscal deficit target of 7.4 per cent of GDP for 2022.<\/p>\n<p>But Kwabena Duffuor is of the view that a further cut would be ideal.<\/p>\n<p>He cited tenure of administration which had a cut in expenditure yet performed well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProfessor Mills reduced his MDA\u2019s from 27 to 23. President Kufuor worked with 27 MDAs Prof Mills came and cut it to 23<\/p>\n<p>He also urged the government to exercise caution in this matter because it is destroying institutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA young economist will say, oh when the fundamental right.. it goes beyond that. If you are the strong institution like the judiciary of course it will have an effect on your currency because when you destroy your bargaining industry you cannot for anyone to come and help us \u2026.. Institutional destruction is a serious thing that must be looked at.
