{"id":1182011,"date":"2022-08-17T22:10:30","date_gmt":"2022-08-17T22:10:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/17\/key-directors-management-of-ut-and-capital-banks-prosecuted-for-criminal-offences-eoco-bog-report\/"},"modified":"2022-08-17T22:10:30","modified_gmt":"2022-08-17T22:10:30","slug":"key-directors-management-of-ut-and-capital-banks-prosecuted-for-criminal-offences-eoco-bog-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/17\/key-directors-management-of-ut-and-capital-banks-prosecuted-for-criminal-offences-eoco-bog-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Key directors, management of UT and Capital banks prosecuted for criminal offences &#8211; EOCO, BoG report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-text\" style=\"line-height: 2; letter-spacing: -0.5px;font-size: 18px;\">\n<p>                        <!--p class=\"ky_saved_articles_link\"><span class=\"ky_saved_articles_hide\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\" class=\"ky_saved_articles_img\" alt=\"Key directors, management of UT and Capital banks prosecuted for criminal offences - EOCO, BoG report\" title=\"Key directors, management of UT and Capital banks prosecuted for criminal offences - EOCO, BoG report\"><\/span> Bookmark<\/p-->\n<p>Key Directors and Management staff of UT and Capital banks are being prosecuted for various criminal offences for their complicity in the collapse of banks and financial institutions.<\/p>\n<p>The accused persons are currently being cross-examined by the prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>This was contained in the latest report on the Bank of Ghana and Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) investigations into the criminal actions of these individuals leading to the collapse of the banks and special deposit-taking institutions.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with<strong> JoyNews<\/strong>, the Executive Director of EOCO, COP Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah expressed the readiness of the Attorney-General to begin work soon on the matter.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"300\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" allow=\"autoplay\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/1325990035&#038;color=%23ff5500&#038;auto_play=false&#038;hide_related=false&#038;show_comments=true&#038;show_user=true&#038;show_reposts=false&#038;show_teaser=true&#038;visual=true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>According to her, \u201cthe dockets are there and Attorney-General is doing everything possible  giving fiat to our lawyers at EOCO so that they can support, provide the backings to the office of the DPP to start the prosecution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Governor of the Central Bank, Dr Ernest Addison says they have advanced some 10 million cedis to EOCO for the regulation of the sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe EOCO has investigated and forwarded 11 dockets to the Attorney-General\u2019s office. This has been done more than a year ago and I am saying so just to put pressure on the Attorney-General\u2019s Department that these dockets have been with them more than a year ago pursuant to section 19 of the EOCO Organised Crime Act. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"300\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" allow=\"autoplay\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/1325990911&#038;color=%23ff5500&#038;auto_play=false&#038;hide_related=false&#038;show_comments=true&#038;show_user=true&#038;show_reposts=false&#038;show_teaser=true&#038;visual=true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Notwithstanding all of this, there is a lot of work waiting to be done with respect to tracing of assert to build concrete investigation to lead to effective prosecution of perpetrators of financial crimes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on that, Madam Tiwaa Addo Danquah said her outfit \u201cis going to provide tailor-made training for our officers because that area of investigation and prosecution is a bit different from the normal prosecution that we do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo Mr. Governor, I can assure you that this amount that you are going to give to us will not go waste,\u201d she assured.<\/p>\n<p>                <!-- Post Tags --><\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Key Directors and Management staff of UT and Capital banks are being prosecuted for various criminal offences for their complicity in the collapse of banks and financial institutions.
