{"id":1179976,"date":"2022-08-16T14:03:50","date_gmt":"2022-08-16T14:03:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/16\/hopeson-adoryes-comment-was-reckless-and-alan-kyeremanteng-should-distance-himself-from-it-yendi-mp\/"},"modified":"2022-08-16T14:03:50","modified_gmt":"2022-08-16T14:03:50","slug":"hopeson-adoryes-comment-was-reckless-and-alan-kyeremanteng-should-distance-himself-from-it-yendi-mp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/16\/hopeson-adoryes-comment-was-reckless-and-alan-kyeremanteng-should-distance-himself-from-it-yendi-mp\/","title":{"rendered":"Hopeson Adorye\u2019s comment was reckless and Alan Kyeremanteng should distance himself from it \u2013 Yendi MP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-text\" style=\"line-height: 2; letter-spacing: -0.5px;font-size: 18px;\">\n<p>                        <!--p class=\"ky_saved_articles_link\"><span class=\"ky_saved_articles_hide\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\" class=\"ky_saved_articles_img\" alt=\"Hopeson Adorye\u2019s comment was reckless and Alan Kyeremanteng should distance himself from it \u2013 Yendi MP\" title=\"Hopeson Adorye\u2019s comment was reckless and Alan Kyeremanteng should distance himself from it \u2013 Yendi MP\"><\/span> Bookmark<\/p-->\n<p>Member of Parliament for Yendi in the Northern region has called on the Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeremanten to distance himself from a comment made by Hopeson Adorye in Kumasi.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Umar Farouk Aliu Mahama says the comment was a reckless one. <\/p>\n<p>He says the failure of Alan Kyeremanteng to distance himself from it will hurt the fortunes of the New Patriotic Party in the 2024 general elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe issue is that you don\u2019t have a leading member like Hopeson on the campaign of our senior brother Alan Kyeremanten for him to be speaking like that and saying that northerners are supposed to be vice presidents that\u2019s what it will be.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a reckless statement and I mean even Alan Kyeremanten should distance himself from that thing because it can hurt us in the future,\u201d he told Nana Jantuah on <strong>Nhyira FM<\/strong>\u2019s <em><strong>Kuro Yi Mu Nsem<\/strong><\/em> show.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Hopeson Adorye is reported to have said \u201cin the NPPs tradition, Northerners are fit for the running mate position\u201d during a health walk dubbed \u201c Walk for Alan\u201d held in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.<\/p>\n<p>According to Farouk, even if Alan Kyeremanten wins the flagbearership of the NPP it will be difficult for him to solicit for votes in the north because of the reckless comment of Mr. Adorye. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan he come to Yendi to say he needs votes from the north?\u201d quizzed Mr. Farouk Mahama. \u201cBecause of that reckless statement, it can affect the fortunes of the NPP\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>The son of late Vice President Aliu Mahama, says regardless of one\u2019s region, everyone is eligible to lead the NPP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not in the NPP constitution that every time the NPP\u2019s flagbearer should come from a particular group, it should be a level playing field for everybody.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut when we limit it to say only the Akan people can lead the NPP, no, it doesn\u2019t work like that,\u201d he said.<br \/>Umar Farouk says in the run up to the NPP\u2019s flagbearer polls, the party members should tone down on their choice of words since anyone who wins will need every vote of the party members to win election 2024. <\/p>\n<p>He wants Hopeson Adorye to apologise for peace to prevail.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Mr. Hopeson Yaovi Adorye has apologised for the statement he made at the pro-Alan Kyeremanten, \u201cAduru Woso Asanteman Health Walk\u201d held in Kumasi.<\/p>\n<p>According to organisers, the exercise, which was held on Saturday 13th August, 2022 aimed at boosting their health for the campaign to \u2018break the 8\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Adorye is reported to have said during the walk that, \u201cThe NPP has a tradition. Our tradition is Busia, Danquah and Dombo. Danquah represents Eastern Region and the bottom (south), Danquah represents Ashanti Region and the Bono areas, while Dombo represents Northern Region. The Dombos are always in the mix and fit as running mates to either a Danquah candidate or a Busia candidate. That tradition must continue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This statement has resulted in a backlash which has compelled Mr. Adorye to apologise.<\/p>\n<p>In a press release dated August 15, the former MP for Kpone-Katamanso said: \u201cUpon reflection, I realize that my statement may either have been misunderstood and offended some patriots, or deliberately turned around by political opponents for their misguided intentions. As much as it is not my nature, it definitely was not my intention to create this misunderstanding. I take full responsibility for my actions and sincerely apologize to all who are offended.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Adorye used the opportunity to clarify that, \u201cI am neither an Operations Director for Alan Kyerematen nor aware of any such campaign team created.
