{"id":1178261,"date":"2022-08-15T09:10:59","date_gmt":"2022-08-15T09:10:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/15\/churches-must-pay-gospel-musicians-patience-nyarko\/"},"modified":"2022-08-15T09:10:59","modified_gmt":"2022-08-15T09:10:59","slug":"churches-must-pay-gospel-musicians-patience-nyarko","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/15\/churches-must-pay-gospel-musicians-patience-nyarko\/","title":{"rendered":"Churches must pay Gospel musicians \u2013 Patience Nyarko \u00bb \u2122"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">&#8211;  &#8211;<\/span><br \/>\n<!-- ResponsiveAll --><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Patience Nyarko, a gospel singer from Ghana, has added her voice to the growing chorus of people who believe gospel musicians should be compensated for their services, particularly when they play in religious institutions like churches.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There has been some debate recently over whether or not Gospel musicians should be compensated for their services rendered at churches.<\/p>\n<p>For some, it\u2019s a calling; for others, it\u2019s a job, and they deserve the same respect and remuneration as any other artist.<\/p>\n<p>Patience Nyarko said it humorously in an interview with Graphic  on Tuesday, August 9: \u201cthe days when people say you \u2018God bless you\u2019 are done, they are long gone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">&#8211;  &#8211;<\/span><br \/>\n<!-- ResponsiveAll --><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a lot of work that goes into our shows, so we won\u2019t tolerate it anymore.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone else gets paid for their job, so why shouldn\u2019t Gospel musicians? We have to pay for gas to go to the venues, uniforms for the team, etc., so it\u2019s only reasonable that we are compensated for our performances.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">&#8211;  &#8211;<\/span><br \/>\n<!-- ResponsiveAll --><\/p>\n<p>I always have the person hiring me to ask to speak with my boss because I think that the way you market yourself is the way you get hired.<\/p>\n<p>When asked what she expected from her coworkers, Patience Nyarko said, \u201cHe would offer a price and if you are alright with it or can afford it, we are good to go else there is no deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Make excellent use of your managers; that\u2019s why they\u2019re there. \u201cLet\u2019s pitch ourselves very effectively so that we don\u2019t wind up going home to weep after unfruitful negotiations, times are particularly harsh and one would not want to get into anything and lose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Patience Nyarko clarified that there were times when she didn\u2019t mind playing for free at certain churches due to her rapport with the pastors.<\/p>\n<p>Some pastors are our spiritual dads or close friends, and we would never dream of charging them.<\/p>\n<p>If we don\u2019t know the individuals involved or have a prior connection with them, we expect to be compensated for our time and effort.<\/p>\n<p>The singer who became famous for her song \u201cObi Nyani Me\u201d launched a new single at the beginning of 2018 named \u201cJesus In The Boat,\u201d and she claims it is doing really well.<\/p>\n<p>Since its debut earlier this year, \u201cJesus In The Boat\u201d has been played on the radio often. Things have altered since then, but the band is making due.<\/p>\n<p>She asked her followers to keep her in their prayers and hinted that she would release a new song before the year was through. \u201cLet\u2019s just see how it will go, but please remember me in your prayers,\u201d she urged.<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of her almost ten years in the business, Patience Nyarko has released a number of excellent Gospel tracks, including (but certainly not limited to) Obi Nyanime, W\u2019fom Kwan, Anibre Mpaye, Wasore, Menwu, Oboboba, Wodaada, and others.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">&#8211;  &#8211;<\/span><br \/>\n<!-- ResponsiveAll --><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8211; &#8211; Patience Nyarko, a gospel singer from Ghana, has added her voice to the growing chorus of people who believe gospel musicians should be compensated for their services, particularly when they play in religious institutions like churches.
