Global Citizen is bringing its annual festival to Ghana for the first time.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This is in recognition of the Global Citizen Festival\u2019s 10th anniversary. The event will be held on September 24, at the Black Star Square in Accra.<\/p>\n
Performing for the first time in Ghana is RnB legend Usher Raymond, singer\/songwriter SZA, H.E.R and Nigeria\u2019s Tems.<\/p>\n
Also joining the lineup is English rapper Stormzy, singer Gyakie, Sarkodie and Stonebwoy.<\/p>\n
Accra\u2019s event is the sister event to Global Citizen\u2019s annual New York City festival.<\/p>\n
Reacting to the news, President Nana Afuko-Addo noted that \u201cGhana is honoured to host this year\u2019s edition of the Global Citizen Festival. I look forward to welcoming each and every one of you to Accra, capital of the country at the centre of the world.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether, let us join hands and help accelerate progress towards the realisation of the SDGs,\u201d he continued, referring to the UN\u2019s Sustainable Development Goals (a.k.a Global Goals) to end extreme poverty and its systemic causes.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe owe it to the next generation to live in a world free from poverty, disease, and the degradation of the environment.\u201d<\/p>\n
What Is Global Citizen?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\nGlobal Citizen is an advocacy organisation that is dedicated to ending extreme poverty NOW. We\u2019ve grown and are continuing to grow the world\u2019s largest movement of action-takers and impact-makers who are calling for urgent change to protect and uplift the world\u2019s most vulnerable.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They take action by posting, tweeting, messaging, voting, signing, and calling to inspire those who can make things happen \u2014 government leaders, businesses, philanthropists, artists, and citizens \u2014 together improving lives.<\/p>\n
