{"id":1173099,"date":"2022-08-10T16:34:06","date_gmt":"2022-08-10T16:34:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/10\/cas-lift-ban-on-players-involved-in-ashgold-v-inter-allies\/"},"modified":"2022-08-10T16:34:06","modified_gmt":"2022-08-10T16:34:06","slug":"cas-lift-ban-on-players-involved-in-ashgold-v-inter-allies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/10\/cas-lift-ban-on-players-involved-in-ashgold-v-inter-allies\/","title":{"rendered":"CAS lift ban on players involved in Ashgold v Inter Allies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"502\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/9ee09c5f7491ab0e61dfa9f45b19da36_L-696x502.jpg\"   alt=\"Ashgold v Inter Allies\" title=\"Ashgold v Inter Allies\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ashgold v Inter Allies<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has temporarily lifted bans placed on twenty-one (21) players for their\u00a0involvement in match manipulation during the 2020\/21 Ghana Premier League season.<\/p>\n<p>Following a lengthy investigation by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], it was established both clubs played a match of convenience.<\/p>\n<p>The matchday 34 game played at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium ended 7-2 in favour of Ashgold.<\/p>\n<p>A total of twenty-one (21) footballers were slapped with bans by the GFA for their involvement in the manipulation.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>An Inter Allies player, Hashmin Musah, scored two own goals and later admitted his action was to spoil a bet placed on the said game.<\/p>\n<p>The following players were banned for 24 months each, for their apparent involvement in fixing the game.<\/p>\n<p>Inter Allies players, Mohammed Zakari, Richard Acquaah, Shaibu Taufiq, and Felix Abuska received 24-month bans for their involvement in the said game.<\/p>\n<p>Five others; Danso Wiredu Mensah (goalkeeper), Alex Aso, Abdul Kadir Mohammed, Isah Ali \u2013 Player, and Andy Okpe, were also banned for failing to appear before the GFA\u2019s Disciplinary Committee, and also received 24-month bans.<\/p>\n<p>Hashmin Musah, who scored two intentional own goals to scupper the fixed result was handed a reduced 6-month ban for his whistleblower role, while Richmond Lamptey, who now plays for Asante Kotoko, was given a 30-month ban for attempting to stake a bet on the fixed result.<\/p>\n<p>However, Stephen Owusu Banahene,\u00a0Dacosta Ampem,\u00a0Frank Akoto, Agyemang Isaac Opoku,\u00a0Amos Kofi Nkrumah,\u00a0Eric Esso,\u00a0Moses Kwame, and Solomon Afriyie all of Ashgold were banned.<\/p>\n<p>Samed Mohammed, Player number 32 and Seth Osei received a 30-month (2.5 years) ban each for their involvement in fixing the game, and also verbally abusing Inter Allies officials for bringing on Hashmin Musah, who \u2018spoilt\u2019 the bet with his two intentional own goals.<\/p>\n<p>Emmanuel Owusu,\u00a0Mohammed Bailou,\u00a0Amos Addai, and\u00a0Paul De Vries Asare who failed to appear before the Disciplinary\u00a0Committee were also been banned for 48 (4 years) months each.<\/p>\n<p>However, in a statement signed by Elizabeth Steiner, the Deputy President of CAS has ordered for the lifting of the bans placed on the players.<\/p>\n<p>This was after an appeal was filed on the player\u2019s behalf by FIFPRO through the PFAG.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screenshot_20220810-152734.png\" alt=\"Screenshot 20220810 152734\"\/><\/figure>\n<p><strong>READ ALSO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>            <!--  [embed]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=videoseries[\/embed]<!--\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>--><\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"m1Qv23wJwUk\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Asante-Akyem Juaso citizens support Juaso Senior High Technical School - Premtobre Kasee (10-8-22)\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/m1Qv23wJwUk?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ashgold v Inter Allies The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has temporarily lifted bans placed on twenty-one (21) players for their\u00a0involvement in match manipulation during the 2020\/21 Ghana Premier League season.
