{"id":1171962,"date":"2022-08-09T17:05:49","date_gmt":"2022-08-09T17:05:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/09\/officials-must-be-punished-for-their-negligence-over-4x100-disqualification\/"},"modified":"2022-08-09T17:05:49","modified_gmt":"2022-08-09T17:05:49","slug":"officials-must-be-punished-for-their-negligence-over-4x100-disqualification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/09\/officials-must-be-punished-for-their-negligence-over-4x100-disqualification\/","title":{"rendered":"Officials must be punished for their negligence over 4\u00d7100 disqualification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"623\" height=\"546\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/1660064749_739_download-5.png\"   alt=\"Emmanuel Tuffour\" title=\"Emmanuel Tuffour\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Emmanuel Tuffour<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Former Ghana sprinter, Emmanuel Tuffour, has called on authorities to punish the leadership and coaches that led the country to the 2022 Commonwealth Games over Ghana\u2019s disqualification of the\u00a04\u00d7100 Meter Heat.<\/p>\n<p>The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) disqualified Ghana after officials from the Ghanaian contingent failed to report a change in the relay team\u2019s personnel.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Paul Amoah, 200 Meter Runner, was replaced by youngster Abdul-Rasheed Saminu to aid Amoah prepare for his individual event.<\/p>\n<p>However, the CGF wasn\u2019t notified of this development in time for the necessary change to be made official resulting in the disqualification.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>Ghana\u2019s team of Benjamin Azamati, Saminu, Barnabas Agerh and Sean Safo-Antwi finished third in Heat 1 with a time of 39.05 seconds.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"512\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/00573706-0CB9-4D67-BFDC-06EE946A5A68.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2147525\"  \/><figcaption>Ghana\u2019s 4\u00d7100M team<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>However, Tuffour, speaking on <strong>Asempa FM<\/strong>, says officials and coaches who failed to notify organisers of the games after the changes must be punished.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat happened to the\u00a04\u00d7100m team is totally embarassing and for me, people must be punished,\u201d he said on the <strong>Ultimate Sports Show.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ ALSO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all know that it has been established that the coaches and officials failed to notify the organisers after the change was made so the question is, what were the coaches and officials doing?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have let the guys down because they have trained for this and someone\u2019s negeligence has let the team down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know Ghana Athletics Association [GAA] has apologised for what has happened but that apology must be thrown out because what happened is unacceptable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe GAA goes to congress without informing anybody and before we realize, a president and his vice have been elected and now look at what has happended.
