Matt Smith thinks there is \u201cslightly too much sex\u201d in \u201cHouse of the Dragon\u201d.<\/p>\n
The 39-year-old actor portrays Prince Daemon Targaryen in the upcoming \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d prequel series and he admitted he questioned whether the number of intimate scenes were essential to the story being told on screen.<\/p>\n
He told \u201cRolling Stone UK\u201d magazine: \u201cYou do find yourself asking, \u2018Do we need another sex scene?\u2019 And they\u2019re like, \u2018Yeah, we do.\u2019 I guess you have to ask yourself: \u2018What are you doing? Are you representing the books, or are you diluting the books to represent the time (we\u2019re living in)?\u2019 <\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I actually think it\u2019s your job to represent the books truthfully and honestly, as they were written.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked if he has many sex scenes, he added: \u201cYeah \u2013 slightly too much, if you ask me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Watch video:<\/strong><\/p>\n In the show, Smith has the Targaryen family\u2019s signature long blonde hair, but he hated having to wear a wig every day.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cIt looks great but it\u2019s a f****** pain in the a***.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt took an hour and a quarter to put on every day. I was like, \u2018Obviously the Targaryens are known for their blonde hair \u2013 but can\u2019t we just give them some highlights?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n The British star has yet to see the finished show, but he\u2019s hopeful it will be a hit.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cI haven\u2019t seen it yet \u2013 and often your experience of making it is different from your experience of watching it.<\/p>\n \u201cBut I hope it\u2019s good. Obviously, you\u2019re standing on the legacy of a show that had a big impact on people. And you\u2019re never going to be able to recreate that. It\u2019s a bit like being in a band: you\u2019ve got to play the hits, but you\u2019ve also got to hope the second album delivers something that moves the narrative forward.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a great cast. The characters are really, really interesting. And it\u2019s based on George R.R. Martin\u2019s book. That\u2019s one thing we\u2019ve got going for us: we\u2019re not just plucking fantasy out of thin air. It comes from the mind of George, who\u2019s really clever, and has created a world that feels like it\u2019s translatable.\u201d<\/p>\n And Smith admitted he also hasn\u2019t read the book, 2018\u2019s \u201cFire and Blood\u201d, that the show is based on.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cNot in its entirety. It\u2019s a big f****** book.\u201d<\/p>\n
