{"id":1169644,"date":"2022-08-07T16:55:23","date_gmt":"2022-08-07T16:55:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/07\/ghana-card-as-sole-identification-for-voter-registration-not-necessary\/"},"modified":"2022-08-07T16:55:23","modified_gmt":"2022-08-07T16:55:23","slug":"ghana-card-as-sole-identification-for-voter-registration-not-necessary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/07\/ghana-card-as-sole-identification-for-voter-registration-not-necessary\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana Card as sole identification for Voter Registration not necessary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\n                                                   Kadjebi (O\/R), Aug. 7, GNA-Mr Joseph Kwadwo Ofori, the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Akan Constituency, says relying on Ghana Card as the sole identification material for Voter Registration is not necessary.<\/p>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/1.21540062.jpg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" class=\"kMediaObject\"\/><\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">He said the acquisition of the Ghana Card is difficult and its coverage very low, so relying on it would disfranchise potential voters.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">He said the exercise would be a waste of the country\u2019s scarce resources as Electoral Commission (EC) had just compiled a new Voters\u2019 Register in 2020.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Mr Ofori was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kadjebi in the Oti Region in reaction to EC\u2019s announcement they would rely on Ghana Card as a sole identification material for Voter Registration.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">The former Legislator advised the EC to abandon the idea because it would plunge the country into civil conflict as the opposition parties would fiercely resist it.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Mr Ofori asked the EC to allow those who attained the age of 18 years and above and wanted to register with any Ghanaian Identity card without restriction.<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kadjebi (O\/R), Aug. 7, GNA-Mr Joseph Kwadwo Ofori, the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Akan Constituency, says relying on Ghana Card as the sole identification material for Voter Registration is not necessary.
