Johnny Hughes asked: &#8221;Did you know that Catherine Afeku, who was moved from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture is still a Minister of state despite that deal that she did and was relieved?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Well, checks show that indeed Johnny was right about the fact that the government official is still working as a Minister of State. She might have made some mistakes in the past but does she qualify to serve in her new capacities? Is Johnny Hughes indicating that Honourable Catherine Afeku is a simple non -performing officer and should be relieved completely of any post? What exactly does Johnny Hughes want to say? Is he saying that the payroll is too huge and most ministers must simply be laid off?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/0eade6e4e7ff43b5a46ec93ae176b0cd\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Honorable\u00a0Catherine Abelema Afeku was born at Axim in the Western Region. She obtained a Master of Business Administration from the Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University in Atlanta, Georgia in the year\u00a02008.\u00a0\u00a0She\u00a0is married to Mr. Seth Afeku with whom she has three children. She is a Christian\u00a0and a\u00a0member of the\u00a0Catholic\u00a0Church. Hon. Catherine Afeku worked as a Business Development Consultant with the World Bank and Sitico Petroleum in Kenya. She also worked at\u00a0the\u00a0Inlingua\u00a0School of\u00a0Languages in Brescia, Italy. She entered Ghanaian politics in the early\u00a02000s\u00a0and became\u00a0Government\u2019s\u00a0Spokesperson\u00a0on\u00a0Infrastructure\u00a0during\u00a0President\u00a0Kuffour\u2019s\u00a0regime.\u00a0She\u00a0contested in\u00a0the 2008 general elections\u00a0and won\u00a0as the Member of Parliament for\u00a0Evalue\u00a0Ajomoro,\u00a0Gwira\u00a0constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87);\">In Parliament, she\u00a0first\u00a0served\u00a0on the\u00a0Roads\u00a0and Transport Committee and then as a Deputy\u00a0Ranking\u00a0Member of the Communications Committee. She later became a\u00a0Member of the Business Committee of Parliament.\u00a0\u00a0She lost her re-election bid in\u00a02012\u00a0but\u00a0returned strongly to recapture the seat in the 2016 general elections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/65c17e698d73422a96a91df618ba7968\"\/><\/p>\n<p> In January 2017, His Excellency,\u00a0Nana Addo\u00a0Dankwah\u00a0Akuffo-Addo, President of\u00a0the Republic of\u00a0Ghana,\u00a0appointed\u00a0her\u00a0as\u00a0Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, a role she has played diligently over\u00a0the last one and half years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/26ad57b78fa6423cacc0741dd8563475.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Her dynamism, coupled with\u00a0a more profound sense of appreciation of the sector\u00a0has led to the initiation of\u00a0many\u00a0projects and\u00a0programs\u00a0such as\u00a0the digitization and\u00a0automation of revenue collection\u00a0from various\u00a0tourist sites  Cape Coast and Elmina Castles,\u00a0Wli\u00a0Waterfalls, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park\u00a0to\u00a0boost\u00a0revenue generation\u00a0and an aggressive marketing\u00a0drive to project\u00a0Ghana as a preferred tourism\u00a0destination through the \u201cSee Ghana\u201d \u201cEat Ghana\u201d \u201cWear Ghana\u201d\u00a0campaign\u00a0which is currently running on\u00a0Cable\u00a0News\u00a0Network\u00a0(CNN)\u00a0and\u00a0other social media\u00a0platforms.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/add971e151304cf7851418224c4e1bac\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Honorable Afeku might have her shortfalls but does that mean she should be thrown away?
