Political Science Lecturer and Director of the Centre for European Studies of the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Gyamo, has expressed disappointment in the ruling New Patriotic Party’s current posture.<\/span><\/p>\n According to Professor Ransford Gyampo, the serious issues confronting the country’s governance is all about bad leadership. He noted that the leaders governing this country have much exposure, and one would expect them to translate their experience obtained from other developed countries into the government of our country. Unfortunately, this is not the case with us in Ghana. <\/span><\/p>\n Prof Ransford Gyampo particularly touched on the New Patriotic Party; he stated that prior to the ascension of power, Ghanaians had high hope for them. Today, the hope is virtually lost. He lamented that instead of finding ways to transform the economy, our bad leaders focus on gathering for themselves and their families for a possible exit. He stated that in the eyes of the public, they claim they are working hard to break a certain eight, but deep within them, they know they are packing.<\/span><\/p>\n He stressed that governance should not be about the self but about leaving legacy that posterity can benefit from it. Governing well should be the aim.<\/span><\/p>\n Prof Gyampo, in a post, said, <\/span>Publicly, a few paints an impression that a specific EIGHT will be broken. Still, in reality, they are focused more on \u201cpacking\u201d rather than governing in a manner that sacrifices the quest for legacy in governance. It\u2019s not about breaking any EIGHT; it\u2019s not about packing for a possible exit. It\u2019s about governing well and effectively discharging tasks reposed to benefit posterity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Prof Gyampo condemned the current posture of leadership stating that the attitude of preparing to survive after a possible end of tenure of office is bad.<\/p>\n He said”There was a lot of hope, as evidenced in the outcome of the 2016 elections.
