Chelsea FC is now in direct talks. De Jong has been consistent that he wants to stay but refused to take a pay cut. He is more open to Stamford Bridge than Old Trafford.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/d264a07a47a44b9a890a191a7c7fb733\"\/><\/p>\n<p>As previously reported, Barcelona will need to explicitly tell de Jong he\u2019s not wanted and must leave, and Chelsea has asked for guarantees if they move the saga won\u2019t drag on. Unlike Manchester, they will get player buy-in early if things progress. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/8726490fd43b42ad831f511342eaeab0\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Barca wants Bernardo Silva and needs the de Jong transfer fee and squad space to make that happen.<\/p>\n<p>On record, and only two days ago, Joan Laporta denied de Jong was offered to Chelsea when he met Todd Boehly and reiterated he will \u201cdo his best\u201d to keep him at Barca. But without a significant pay cut, and due to the Silva interest, an exit remains more likely. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/277a15fbb6cb4f39a7bf379dc4ea6b0b\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Thomas Tuchel is very much driving the Chelsea interest. Boehly again backed his manager and tried to pull off an ambitious signing. Won\u2019t be easy but Chelsea now exploring. <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m m told Chelsea has monitored de Jong&#8217;s situation for quite some time and initiated talks because they now believe there is an urgency by Barca to sell.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/c4f4999405f74a58bd5cbc5e1afd9da3\"\/><\/p>\n<p>De Jong himself is starting to realize his game-time will be even more limited. Xavi has spoken of using him as a center-back yet Jules Kounde has just come in, too. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Laporta called Silva \u201ca very good player\u201d and Barcelona told MCFC to expect an offer soon.
