Ghana\u2019s contemporary Artist, Ibrahim Mahama believes historical sites are crucial in the advancement of art.<\/p>\n
He says they will provide the opportunity for upcoming artists to think of new ways in the art sphere.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are art forms artists produce and there are art which emerge by themselves.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we\u2019re able to take ownership of these places and the aesthetics within them and we\u2019re able to preserve them, it will create new freedoms within art.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo artists who\u2019ll be born in the 21st<\/sup>\u00a0century and beyond will have the ability to practice art on the scale, which wouldn\u2019t have been possible before,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n Mr. Mahama added \u201cIt creates new points within our histories and timelines that can serve as tourist places that can generate revenue.\u201d<\/p>\n Mr. Mahama, who is now a PhD student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, was speaking at a lecture titled: \u201cThe burden of the void. Potential of capital failures,\u201d on Thursday.<\/p>\n Mr. Ibrahim Mahama has distinguished himself the world over in the contemporary art field.<\/p>\n Locally, his notable works include, covering the entire KNUST Great Hall with Jute sacks.<\/p>\n
