Ekin-Su and Davide have been crowned the winners of Love Island, winning the show\u2019s \u00a350,000 prize money.<\/p>\n
The pair, both 27, said they \u201ccouldn\u2019t believe\u201d they\u2019d won, describing their time on the show as a \u201cdream\u201d.<\/p>\n
Ekin-Su Culculoglu is an actress and model from Essex, while business owner Davide Sanclimenti is from Rome, Italy.<\/p>\n
During an ad break, ITV2 played a trailer for Big Brother, confirming rumours that the reality show will be revived on the channel in 2023.<\/p>\n
\u2018Crazy and romantic\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n Presenter Laura Whitmore announced Ekin-Su and Davide as the winners of the hugely successful ITV2 dating show during Monday\u2019s live final.<\/p>\n The couple will share the \u00a350,000 prize money. A previous show tradition, which gave one member of the couple the chance to \u201csteal\u201d the jackpot for themselves, was dropped this year.<\/p>\n Speaking to Whitmore earlier in the episode, Davide said it was \u201c100% a dream to be here with her [Ekin-Su]\u201d.<\/p>\n Ekin-Su said: \u201cIt feels so surreal, finding the man of your dreams and just growing, I\u2019m lost for words.\u201d<\/p>\n She described her relationship with Davide as \u201cabsolutely bonkers, crazy, romantic and fun\u201d.<\/p>\n Gemma and Luca were named the runners-up, while the the third-placed couple was Indiyah and Dami.<\/p>\n Tasha,\u00a0the show\u2019s first deaf contestant,\u00a0and her partner Andrew, finished in fourth place.<\/p>\n Reflecting on their journey, Ekin-Su said: \u201cThere was an instant spark, a genuine butterfly feeling, and there was a caring and intelligent side I was really attracted to.\u201d<\/p>\n Davide, who was originally coupled up with Gemma, added: \u201cAs soon as I saw her [Ekin-Su], my head turned, I was like \u2018wow\u2019. There was initial attraction.\u201d<\/p>\n The couple\u2019s win was welcomed by viewers on Twitter, with journalist\u00a0Monifa Bobb-Simon writing:<\/a>\u00a0\u201cEkin-Su really carried this show. Her and Davide\u2019s mess was a chaotic masterpiece. The right winners.\u201d<\/p>\n Author Toni Toni said:<\/a>\u00a0\u201cOur Turkish Delight and her Italian Stallion are so deserving! TV gold! This season should be renamed Ekin-Su Island because it would have been dry without her!\u201d<\/p>\n Writer\u00a0Chant\u00e9 Joseph described<\/a>\u00a0Ekin-Su as the \u201cpeople\u2019s princess\u201d, while radio presenter\u00a0Yasmin Evans added:<\/a>\u00a0\u201cThis is Ekin-Su\u2019s world and we just live in it.\u201d<\/p>\n Blogger\u00a0Em Sheldon tweeted:<\/a>\u00a0\u201cEkin-Su and Davide are proof that we want to see islanders over the age of 25 fall in love too please.\u201d<\/p>\n And in an article published ahead of the final,\u00a0Lucy Thackray of the Independent described\u00a0Ekin-Su as \u201cthe greatest Love Island contestant of all time\u201d.<\/p>\n Earlier in Monday\u2019s final episode, the islanders were seen taking part in a salsa lesson with professional dancers, who taught them some Latin moves ahead of the Love Island summer ball.<\/p>\n At the ball, the couples read letters to one another about their journey throughout the series, before showing off their dance routines and finally jumping into the Mallorca villa\u2019s swimming pool.<\/p>\n This series of the ITV2 dating show has been popular with viewers, with most episodes attracting an audience of more than three million.<\/p>\n Big Brother returns<\/strong><\/p>\n Also on Monday, ITV confirmed that reality show Big Brother, which has previously aired on Channel 4 and Channel 5, will be rebooted for a new series in 2023.<\/p>\n The show\u2019s former host, Rylan Clark, tweeted an image of the ITV2 logo in the shape of the Big Brother eye, adding: \u201cHe was always watching\u2026 It\u2019s coming home #BBUK\u201d.<\/p>\n The BBC is not responsible for the content of external sites.
