{"id":1163475,"date":"2022-08-02T12:44:38","date_gmt":"2022-08-02T12:44:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/02\/lpg-marketers-association-join-tanker-drivers-declares-indefinite-strike\/"},"modified":"2022-08-02T12:44:38","modified_gmt":"2022-08-02T12:44:38","slug":"lpg-marketers-association-join-tanker-drivers-declares-indefinite-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/08\/02\/lpg-marketers-association-join-tanker-drivers-declares-indefinite-strike\/","title":{"rendered":"LPG Marketers Association join tanker drivers; declares indefinite strike \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"389\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Gas-tanker-696x389.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Gas tanker\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">File photo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Marketing Association of Ghana has joined the sit-down strike declared by the Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union.<\/p>\n<p>The move, they say, is in solidarity with the union following the government\u2019s refusal to re-open some gas stations that were closed after the 2017 gas explosion at the Atomic Junction in Accra affected its members.<\/p>\n<p>Vice Chairman of the Association, Gabriel Kumi, made the revelation on Adom FM\u2019s morning show, <strong>Dwaso Nsem<\/strong> programme Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>He said the majority of their members were reeling in debt after they were banned from continuing the construction of new LPG outlets.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBanks are chasing our members for defaulting in paying their loans; some have had their houses auctioned<\/p>\n<p>About two of the members, Mr Kumi claimed, have died because they could not withstand the pressure from their banks.<\/p>\n<p>What is worrying, he said, is the government\u2019s decision to turn a deaf ear to their plight for five years and counting.<\/p>\n<p>The LPG Marketing Association Vice Chairman bemoaned how they are helping reduce the unemployment situation in the country yet they are being ignored.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been engaging the government on this matter for about five years and we are tired.
