{"id":1160354,"date":"2022-07-27T17:51:48","date_gmt":"2022-07-27T17:51:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/07\/27\/man-utd-compete-signing-of-lisandro-martinez-from-ajax\/"},"modified":"2022-07-27T17:51:48","modified_gmt":"2022-07-27T17:51:48","slug":"man-utd-compete-signing-of-lisandro-martinez-from-ajax","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/07\/27\/man-utd-compete-signing-of-lisandro-martinez-from-ajax\/","title":{"rendered":"Man Utd compete signing of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"870\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/image_2022-07-27_162955420-696x870.png\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Lisandro Martinez - Manchester United\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Manchester United have completed the signing of Argentina defender Lisandro Martinez from Ajax in a deal worth up to 67m euros (\u00a357m).<\/p>\n<p>United manager Erik ten Hag was keen to be reunited with the 24-year-old, who he signed for Ajax in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>He joins the club on a five-year contract which keeps him at Old Trafford until 2027, with the option of a further year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an honour to join this great football club,\u201d Martinez said.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve worked so hard to get to this moment and, now that I\u2019m here, I\u2019m going to push myself even further.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martinez made 120 appearances for Ajax after moving from Argentinian side Defensa y Justicia for \u00a36.3m in 2019, and also played for Newell\u2019s Old Boys.<\/p>\n<p>He has won seven caps for Argentina since making his senior debut in March 2019, and played once in the country\u2019s successful Copa America campaign in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been lucky enough to be part of successful teams in my career and that\u2019s what I want to continue at Manchester United,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be a lot of work to get to that moment, but I firmly believe that, under this manager and coaches, and together with my new team-mates, we can do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martinez played under Ten Hag at Ajax and won the Eredivisie title with the club in 2021 and 2022, as well as the Dutch Cup in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>He was also Ajax\u2019s player of the year for the 2021-22 season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a warrior and I think the fans will admire him. He has an attitude, fighting spirit,\u201d Ten Hag said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe brings aggressiveness in the game, in a good way.
