{"id":1158274,"date":"2022-07-25T15:17:15","date_gmt":"2022-07-25T15:17:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/07\/25\/govt-shies-away-form-requesting-more-funds-in-2022-mid-year-budget-review\/"},"modified":"2022-07-25T15:17:15","modified_gmt":"2022-07-25T15:17:15","slug":"govt-shies-away-form-requesting-more-funds-in-2022-mid-year-budget-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/07\/25\/govt-shies-away-form-requesting-more-funds-in-2022-mid-year-budget-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov&#8217;t shies away form requesting more funds in 2022 mid-year budget review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration has not asked for extra funds with the 2022 mid-year budget.<\/p>\n<p>This is despite reduced revenues and the underperformance of the controversial electronic transfer levy.<\/p>\n<p>Recent economic struggles have seen the government turn to the International Monetary Fund for support.<\/p>\n<p>During the Mid-year budget review, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, admitted that there had been \u201csome major shifts in our budget assumptions\u201d when compared to November 2021, when the full budget was presented.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese changes have led to reduced revenues, increased interest payments and changes in interest rates and exchange rates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These challenges notwithstanding, the minister said the government was committed to staying within the appropriation for 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn spite of the underperforming revenues and strong external headwinds, we are not seeking additional funds in this Mid-Year Review.
