{"id":1154828,"date":"2022-07-21T08:56:57","date_gmt":"2022-07-21T08:56:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/07\/21\/tescon-temporarily-resumes-activities-after-row-over-disenfranchisement-at-npp-election\/"},"modified":"2022-07-21T08:56:57","modified_gmt":"2022-07-21T08:56:57","slug":"tescon-temporarily-resumes-activities-after-row-over-disenfranchisement-at-npp-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/07\/21\/tescon-temporarily-resumes-activities-after-row-over-disenfranchisement-at-npp-election\/","title":{"rendered":"TESCON &#8216;temporarily&#8217; resumes activities after row over disenfranchisement at NPP election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The leadership of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) has temporarily resumed all activities on campuses across the country.<\/p>\n<p>This comes after an emergency meeting was held between the TESCON Presidents and National Executives of the New Patriotic Party on Tuesday, July 19.<\/p>\n<p>All 291 TESCON Presidents petitioned the leadership of the Party for being disenfranchised at the just-ended National Delegates Conference.<\/p>\n<p>TESCON delegates were not allowed to vote during the NPP\u2019s National Delegates Conference on Saturday, July 16, 2022, following an injunction against the student body by some aggrieved members.<\/p>\n<p>The leaders subsequently suspended general meetings, elections and other activities in protest of the decision.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <strong>Citi News,<\/strong> however, the TESCON President at the Accra Technical University, Emmanuel Darko said the Party has shown commitment to addressing their concerns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have decided to temporarily resume our activities because leadership has shown goodwill and has committed to addressing our concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are going to take their word for it and hope that all issues will be settled soon,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"f-e-YtRPbVM\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Tescon members not being able to vote in NPP elections &#039;unfortunate&#039; - Gabby Otchere-Darko\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/f-e-YtRPbVM?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The leadership of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) has temporarily resumed all activities on campuses across the country.
