\n Ho, July. 18, GNA – The GCB Bank has pledged continuous support towards the development of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS).<\/p>\n

The bank provided funding for a GHC20 million hall of residence for the University, which was commissioned by the President at a durbar to mark the 10th Anniversary of the Institution.<\/div>\n
Mr. Linus Kumi, GCB\u2019s Head of Corporate Banking, said the bank\u2019s successes with UHAS deepened its credentials of supporting the nation\u2019s education sector, which was a core mandate, and therefore the relationship, which dates to establishment of the University, would be sustained.<\/div>\n
\u201cWe started with UHAS from day one, and we want to assure them that we will be here forever,\u201d he stated.<\/div>\n
Mr. Kumi said the Bank would continue to engage with Management of the University, and roll strategies to support the various developmental initiatives.\u202f<\/div>\n
He expressed gratitude to management and students of the Institution for sustaining working relations, noting increasing subscriptions and service patronage.<\/div>\n
The 680- bed capacity Sokode Hall of Residence is expected to ease some accommodation difficulties on the nation\u2019s only prime health university, whose student population had grown to more than 7,000 in a decade.<\/div>\n
Leadership of the University had used the anniversary occasion to bend stakeholder attention to the infrastructural deficit.<\/div>\n
\u201cWe need the right infrastructure to double our intake,\u201d Professor John Owusu Gyapong, Vice Chancellor, bemoaned in an address, calling to complete a central laboratory complex, and the UHAS School of Public Health.<\/div>\n
Work on the second phase development of the University\u2019s main campus in Ho is however progressing.<\/div>\n
President Akufo Addo had facilitated the 60 million dollars project which is part of China\u2019s Aid to the Country.<\/div>\n
An exponential rise in student population is therefore expected, and the demand for student and staff accommodation is already pressing, making the University environment a target for investors and developers.<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
