{"id":1151351,"date":"2022-07-17T16:03:05","date_gmt":"2022-07-17T16:03:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/07\/17\/man-utd-agree-57m-deal-for-ajax-defender-martinez\/"},"modified":"2022-07-17T16:03:05","modified_gmt":"2022-07-17T16:03:05","slug":"man-utd-agree-57m-deal-for-ajax-defender-martinez","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/07\/17\/man-utd-agree-57m-deal-for-ajax-defender-martinez\/","title":{"rendered":"Man Utd agree \u00a357m deal for Ajax defender Martinez"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/125918875_gettyimages-1239219636-696x392.jpg\"   alt=\"Martinez was Ajax's player of the year for the 2021\u201322 season\" title=\"Martinez was Ajax's player of the year for the 2021\u201322 season\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Martinez was Ajax&#8217;s player of the year for the 2021\u201322 season<br \/>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Manchester United have agreed to sign Argentina central defender Lisandro Martinez from Ajax in a deal worth up to 67m euros (\u00a357m).<\/p>\n<p>The 24-year-old is expected to sign a five-year contract with the option of a further year.<\/p>\n<p>The move, for an initial \u00a349m, is subject to a medical, personal terms being finalised and a UK visa.<\/p>\n<p>The deal includes \u00a38.5m in add-ons and \u00a32.2m in solidarity payments to Martinez\u2019s former clubs.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>He made 120 appearances for Ajax after moving from Argentinian side Defensa y Justicia for \u00a36.3m in 2019, and also played for Newell\u2019s Old Boys.<\/p>\n<p>Martinez has won seven caps for Argentina since making his senior debut in March 2019.<\/p>\n<p>He is United\u2019s third summer signing after\u00a0Tyrell Malacia joined from Feyenoord\u00a0and\u00a0Christian Eriksen moved on a free transfer.<\/p>\n<p>The Old Trafford club said it was \u201cdelighted\u201d to announce an agreement had been reached with Ajax.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe transfer is still subject to a medical examination and the contractual agreement of both clubs with the player,\u201d said the Dutch club in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe defender is still under contract with Ajax until 30 June, 2025. Ajax agreed a transfer fee of 57.37m euros with the English side.
