The second thing is that if you are a father and you are not taking good care of your children, the social services will come and take the children away from you and may put you in jail,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>According to him, the country is already in a ditch thus, Mr. Ofori-Atta\u2019s response \u201cmakes no sense\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He believes that although the Finance Minister must resign, it should be \u201cwhen all is said and done\u201d and the economy has been revived.<\/p>\n<p>In the last few days, many Ghanaians,  the Minority in Parliament and Former President John Mahama, have called for the resignation of the Finance Minister.<\/p>\n<p>John Dramani Mahama urgently charged President Akufo-Addo to replace his Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.<\/p>\n<p>In a Facebook post on July 2, John Mahama said Mr Ofori-Atta has already lost his credibility, trust and confidence after he supervised \u201cthe disastrous collapse of the economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"KgXB5fJ5OcU\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Asking me to resign is like \u2018telling a father to abandon his kids\u2019 \u2013 Ofori-Atta\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KgXB5fJ5OcU?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>He added that the Finance Minister should not be added to the team of negotiators engaging the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for economic support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition, given his obvious failures, the Vice President must be relieved of his responsibility as Chair of the Economic Management Team to enable the President to reconstitute the team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must draw useful lessons from this episode and avoid cheap politicking with the economy that can only yield the disastrous outcomes that have brought us here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Also, former Chief of Staff under the Kufour administration, Kwadwo Mpiani believes Ken Ofori-Atta must take a personal decision to resign.<\/p>\n<p>Kwadwo Mpiani is firm in his conviction the  of the Finance Minister before the government decided to seek the intervention of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) make him unfit to continue in the role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHonestly, if I were the Finance Minister, from my  and then what has been happening, I will just go and say Mr President, thank you so much. I think it best for me to sit back for another person to take over\u2019. That will be my personal decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I am not going to tell any President to drop the Finance Minister or any Minister.
