{"id":1151161,"date":"2022-07-17T09:15:59","date_gmt":"2022-07-17T09:15:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/07\/17\/charles-dwamena-replaces-abankwah-yeboah-as-npp-treasurer\/"},"modified":"2022-07-17T09:15:59","modified_gmt":"2022-07-17T09:15:59","slug":"charles-dwamena-replaces-abankwah-yeboah-as-npp-treasurer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/07\/17\/charles-dwamena-replaces-abankwah-yeboah-as-npp-treasurer\/","title":{"rendered":"Charles Dwamena replaces Abankwah-Yeboah as NPP Treasurer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Dr. Charles Dwamena has been elected the new Treasurer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the just-ended national delegates conference of the party.<\/p>\n<p>He will replace George Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah, the incumbent who ran for the General Secretary positon but lost in that race.<\/p>\n<p>Popularly known as Dr. China, Dr. Charles Dwamena, a former Deputy Ghanaian Ambassador to China, polled 2,917 votes to shrug off competition from his three other contenders.<\/p>\n<p>He previously served as Director of Finance and Administration of the party.<\/p>\n<p>Others in that election were Mary Posch-Oduro, Collins Nuntwiri Nuamah and Dr. Yusif Tedem who obtained 1303, 1197 and 125 votes respectively.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-867691\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/npp-national-treasurer.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1080\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>In 2018, Dr. China declared intentions to contest the National Treasurer position of the NPP in its national election held in Koforidua.<\/p>\n<p>Several polls had predicted that Dr. China who espoused numerous novel policy ideas, was a veritable threat to then-incumbent treasurer Abankwa Yeboah at the time.<\/p>\n<p>But to the shock of many he withdrew his candidature just a few days after the opening of nominations by the party.<\/p>\n<p>The New Patriotic Party on Saturday and Sunday elected various national leaders to lead the party for the next four years.<\/p>\n<p>The conference was held at the Accra Sports Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"xht1FqhtJDU\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"New NPP National Executives will work assiduously to win 2024 National Elections - Stephen Ntim\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xht1FqhtJDU?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Charles Dwamena has been elected the new Treasurer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the just-ended national delegates conference of the party.
