Sashaya Bloomfield \u2013 A woman who lost all four limbs and burnt 90% of her body in a house fire is determined to show others that you can be \u201cs\u025bxy no matter what you look like.\u201d<\/h3>\n

Working as a sales associate and loved up with her boyfriend Stephan, life for Sashaya, 33, was good. Then in May last year, a fire broke out in her apartment block as she slept.<\/p>\n

Sashaya Bloomfield was raced to hospital, where medics placed her in a coma. As well as severe burns to the majority of her body, she also developed a dangerous infection \u2013 meaning doctors had to amputate all four of her limbs in order to save her life.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cI don\u2019t remember much about the fire itself. I was in a coma for four months. When I woke up, I remember screaming to the nurses asking what happened to my arms and legs. I didn\u2019t recognise myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

To make things even more difficult, due to COVID restrictions, Sashaya was unable to have many visitors. Eventually, she left hospital and was transferred to a rehabilitation unit, where she underwent extensive speech, physical and occupational therapy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to learn to do everyday tasks \u2013 brush my teeth, wash my face, get dressed \u2013 all over again,\u201d she added. On a whim, Sashaya Bloomfield decided to begin documenting her recovery on TikTok \u2013 and was stunned by the outpouring of support she received. \u201cMy biggest video has 13 million views,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never expected any of this, but I want to encourage other burns survivors and show them that they aren\u2019t alone.\u201d Now, Sashaya Bloomfield continues to share her life online \u2013 everything from workout videos to fun dances. She concluded: \u201d<\/p>\n

The past year taught me that I\u2019m strong. I want to show people that you can be confident and s\u025bxy no matter what you look like.\u201d<\/p>\n
