{"id":1149793,"date":"2022-07-15T10:37:28","date_gmt":"2022-07-15T10:37:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/07\/15\/bawumia-should-take-responsibility-for-state-of-economy\/"},"modified":"2022-07-15T10:37:28","modified_gmt":"2022-07-15T10:37:28","slug":"bawumia-should-take-responsibility-for-state-of-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/07\/15\/bawumia-should-take-responsibility-for-state-of-economy\/","title":{"rendered":"Bawumia should take responsibility for state of economy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A spokesperson for former President John Mahama, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has challenged Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to take responsibility for the country\u2019s economic crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said the former President was not to be blamed for the country\u2019s current attempts to source support from the International Monetary Fund.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is the terrible mismanagement and the terrible election-related expenditure in 2020 that has plunged us into this crisis,\u201d he said on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Vice President, while speaking at the launch of Accra Business School\u2019s IT programmes on Thursday, said the decision to return to the IMF could partly be blamed on the policies of the erstwhile Mahama administration.<\/p>\n<p>He attributed the pressures of the banking sector clean-up and the energy sector capacity payments to failings by the Mahama administration.<\/p>\n<p>But Mr. Kwakye Ofosu retorted that the Vice President must focus on presenting workable plans at resolving the country\u2019s economic crisis.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that Ghana was in better shape when it last went to the IMF, under the Mahama administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2015, we went there [to the IMF] walking. Today we went there in an ambulance because we are completely paralysed,\u201d Mr. Kwakye said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet him not waste our time.
