Government communicators have had a torrid time this week as they have had to face tough questions from Ghanaians. This came as a result of the sudden U-Turn make in running to the International Monetary Fund for bailout. Ghana\u2019s economy which was expected to be one of Africa\u2019s rising economies has over some time fallen and gone bankrupt.<\/p>\n

In the studios of Joy FM, Afenyo Markin, the Deputy Majority Leader faced a number of tough questions as he was bombarded by panelists of Joy FM\u2019s Saturday political programme Newsfile. Afenyo Markin on the show spoke about the achievements of the government and how they had tried their best but eventually had to succumb to the IMF.<\/p>\n

In one of the questions asked, Samson quizzed why government decided to clean up the financial amount with a colossal amount. According to Ken Ofori Atta in a presser about 25 million cedis was used in the cleanup. Samson boldly told Afenyo that the approach of the government was wrong. Samson questioned why this amount was used when the government could have rather revamped the banking sector with less. The question kept Afenyo puzzled and down looking as he struggled to give a solid answer.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, government was of the view that it will serve the best interest of the country,\u201d Afenyo Markin said. Afenyo tried to explain but the answer wasn\u2019t forthcoming and ended up saying that it was a risk the government took. He reiterated that government was doing better before Covid and they relied on their own policies but however things didn\u2019t go as planned. He praised government for being bold enough to admit and seek help from the IMF.<\/p>\n
