Ahead of the 2023 general elections in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, prominent political parties that are ready to take part in the presidential election, as part of the many elections that will be conducted in the polls, have successfully submitted names of their presidential candidates and their running mates.<\/p>\n

Remarkably, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has submitted names of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the presidential candidate of the party, with Alhaji Kabiru Masari being the vice presidential candidate of the ruling party.<\/p>\n
However, two chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Zakari Maigari and Zubainatu Mohammed, on Wednesday, approached the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, praying it to bar the party from replacing Alhaji Kabiru Masari as the running mate to Ahmed Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming presidential election.<\/span><\/p>\n Although, it is the civic right of the plaintiffs (Zakari Maigari and Zubainatu Mohammed)<\/span> to seek attention of court to settle any issue that may seem as an attempt to abuse their personalities or their belongings to the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), as an association, but on the issue related to the substitution of the name of a vice presidential candidate, the plaintiffs may be served with justice that will never align with their expectations.<\/p>\n I mean that the plaintiffs will surely find it impossible to convince the court to deny the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), their right to the constitutional provisions that make it possible for political parties to substitute name of her candidate, if some certain conditions are satisfied.<\/p>\n For instance, it was clearly stated in the 2010 Electoral Act, as amended, that a political party can substitute name of her candidate, in the case of the death or withdrawal of the candidate from an elective race.<\/p>\n Constitutionally, if Alhaji Kabiru Masari withdraws from the presidential race, definitely, there is no any court that can stop the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), from substituting name of another qualified member of the party as the vice presidential candidate of the party<\/p>\n Content created and supplied by: OmoobaAlekuwodo (via Opera \n , . , .
