Legendary US guitarist Carlos Santana collapsed on stage during an open-air concert near Detroit, Michigan.<\/p>\n
Medical personnel treated the 74-year-old in Clarkston on Tuesday, and he was taken to a local hospital\u2019s emergency department for observation.<\/p>\n
Santana, who was born in Mexico, later wrote on his Facebook page that he \u201cforgot to eat and drink water\u201d and \u201cso I dehydrated and passed out\u201d.<\/p>\n
His manager Michael Vrionis said the musician was doing well.<\/p>\n
However, he added that a show planned for Wednesday in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, \u201cwill be postponed to a later date\u201d.<\/p>\n
Footage has emerged showing Santana being helped off stage at Clarkson\u2019s Pine Knob Theatre. In the video, the star waved to the audience as he was wheeled away on a stretcher.<\/p>\n
Representatives for the 10-time Grammy Award winner said he was suffering from \u201cheat exhaustion and dehydration\u201d.<\/p>\n
The guitarist and his band Santana have been touring in North America with their Miraculous Supernatural show.<\/p>\n
They rose to fame in the 1960s and 70s, pioneering a fusion of rock \u2018n\u2019 roll and Latin American jazz.<\/p>\n
Among the band\u2019s biggest hits are \u2018Black Magic Woman\u2019, \u2018The Game of Love\u2019 and \u2018Oye Como Va\u2019.<\/p>\n
Today, Santana is considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time, thanks to a distinctive style characterised by long, sustained notes, dexterous runs and Latin rhythms.<\/p>\n
