So they should publish the programme to know whether these things (homegrown policies) have been adjusted,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The comment follows government\u2019s decision to seek economic support from the Fund.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>A statement, signed by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, and dated July 1, 2022, indicated that there had already been a conversation between the IMF boss, Kristalina Georgieva and President Akufo-Addo conveying government\u2019s decision to engage the Fund.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President of the Republic, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has authorised Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, to commence formal engagements with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), inviting the Fund to support an economic programme put together by the Government of Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cabinet at a meeting on June 30, 2022, supported government\u2019s decision to pursue an economic programme from the Fund.<\/p>\n<p>The engagement with the IMF, the statement pointed out, will seek to provide a balance of payment support as part of a broader effort to quicken Ghana\u2019s build back in the face of challenges induced by the COVID-19 pandemic and, recently, the Russian-Ukraine crisis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, says government is likely to receive about $2 billion from the IMF after deliberations on a specific support package are concluded.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that considering Ghana\u2019s quota and macroeconomic data, it is possible for the country to get that money to help shore up its reserves.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, government may be able to meet its liquidity and debt service obligations and also boost domestic revenue measures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ALSO READ:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>            <!--  [embed]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=videoseries[\/embed]<!--\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>--><\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"zQHoc2LFkPw\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cognitive Development: How New Born Babies Develop Skills - Badwam Afisem on Adom TV (4-7-22)\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zQHoc2LFkPw?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seth-Terkpeh-5-701&#215;424 (Copy) Former Finance\u00a0Minister, Seth Terkper, has asked government to make public the exact economic programme Ghana is opting for, from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
