In a statement, the Russian Embassy in Ghana criticized the media for misreporting on the causes of rising food costs in Africa.<\/p>\n
Russian officials expressed their displeasure with a “ongoing media campaign accusing the Russian side of rising food prices in Africa” in an official statement released on June 30th by the embassy headed “Embassy’s comments on the rise in food prices”.<\/p>\n
There is little doubt that the rise in bread prices has been blamed on the Russian special military operation in Ukraine by the Ghanaian press, which continues to carbon-copy Western mainstream reporting.<\/p>\n
It went on to say that because of the systemic financial and economic mistakes made by the West during the coronavirus epidemic, this inaccurate reporting ignores the reality that global food and energy prices began rising in early 2020.<\/p>\n
Grain output this year was much higher than it was previous year, according to data from the Food and Agricultural Organization.<\/p>\n
“The amount of grain on the market is bigger than it was in prior years, and trade volumes are also expanding,” the report stated, contradicting Western propaganda.<\/p>\n
Global supply chains have been disrupted by four key factors, miscalculation in Western agricultural policy projections, global inflation spurred on by Western irresponsibilities, and Western energy concerns.<\/p>\n
It also complained about what it called “illegitimate sanctions” imposed on Russia in an effort to isolate the country and harm local economies, particularly those in Africa.<\/p>\n
Several government appointees have acknowledged that Ghana is experiencing difficult times as the economy has recently seen a dip.<\/p>\n
This argument has also been supported by experts who point to rising prices for fuel as well as an increase in the overall cost of living.<\/p>\n
The government, on the other hand, has placed the responsibility for the country’s problems on the Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine conflict.<\/p>\n
