{"id":1137155,"date":"2022-06-29T06:43:20","date_gmt":"2022-06-29T06:43:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/29\/fidelity-bank-ups-its-pre-tax-profit-by-records-32-per-cent\/"},"modified":"2022-06-29T06:43:20","modified_gmt":"2022-06-29T06:43:20","slug":"fidelity-bank-ups-its-pre-tax-profit-by-records-32-per-cent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/29\/fidelity-bank-ups-its-pre-tax-profit-by-records-32-per-cent\/","title":{"rendered":"Fidelity Bank ups its pre-tax profit by records 32 per cent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"font-size: 17px;\">\n                                                   Accra, June 28, GNA &#8211; Fidelity Bank, the largest privately-owned indigenous bank, ended the year 2021 with a consolidated revenue of GH\u00a2 1.<\/p>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/1.21512759.jpg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" class=\"kMediaObject\"\/><\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">13 billion, and a 32 per cent increase in profit before tax.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Last year it made GH\u00a2 517 million, against the GH\u00a2 390 million it recorded in 2020.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">The revenue performance, which was 14 per cent more than the previous year\u2019s income of GH\u00a2 993 million was driven mainly by uptake in the underlying transaction activities, which resulted from internal strategy execution and the gradual recovery of the Ghanaian economy from COVD-19 pandemic.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Mr Edward Effah, Board Chairman of the Bank, announced this at the  Fidelity BanK Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was held virtually for shareholders to review the performance of the Bank.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">He said that the Bank within the period under review posted a strong growth in key financial metrics across its various business segments.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">These, he mentioned, included a 50 per cent year-on-year growth in the non-funded income stream, which increased from GH\u00a2 181 million in 2020 to GH\u00a2 273 million at the end of 2021.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">It recorded a moderate growth of six  per cent in the Group\u2019s net interest income from GH\u00a2 812 million in 2020 to GH\u00a2 858 million in 2021.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">He added that, \u201cthe Group\u2019s balance sheet remained robust with a significant year-on-year increase of 44 per cent to close the year at GH\u00a2 13.36 billion, an increase from GH\u00a2 9.28 billion in 2020.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">&#8220;The growth was funded mainly from an increase in customer deposits and short-term borrowings that financed corresponding short-dated investments.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">Mr Effah noted that despite significant external and domestic challenges, the Bank remained resilient, turning in a strong performance last year.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">He attributed the good performance to the decision of the Bank to leverage cutting edge technology where 89 per cent of all transactions were carried out via the bank\u2019s digital channels.  <br \/>\n\u201cLooking ahead, I have great confidence in the future of our Bank, &#8221; he said.<\/div>\n<div class=\"kMultiLine\">&#8220;Regardless of market conditions.
