Credit: Adom News\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Farmers at Nkwanta South of the Oti Region who received the cashew seedlings some three years ago have started harvesting to make profits.<\/p>\n<p>With cashew nut gradually becoming a major cash-crop in Ghana, the government in 2017 intensified the efforts to improve the production in the years ahead. <\/p>\n<p>Among this effort was the launch a policy for Rural Development and Income Generation, under the National Tree Crop programme dubbed \u2018Planting for Export and Rural Development\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>During a visit to some cashew farms, <strong>Adom News<\/strong> observed the positive impact since the launch of the programme has coaxed other prospects to venture in its cultivation.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"622\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/image_2022-06-23_114605394.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2130007\"  \/><\/figure>\n<p>Over 2,500 farmers have received 480,000 cashew seedlings from the government since the launch of the programme in 2018 at Nkwanta South.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong>Adom News<\/strong>, Jonas Genyige, a farmer, expressed his delight in the positive growth of the cashew production after less than three years through the government\u2019s initiative.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, this initiative has helped him generate more income and improved his life significantly.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Municipal Chief Executive Officer for Nkwanta South, Bright Kwame Lenwah, has urged the youth to engage in cashew cultivation and other farming activities to enhance their livelihood. <\/p>\n<p>Awudu Mubakar, the municipal Agriculture Director, also advised the farmers to take good care of the seedlings to augment the government\u2019s initiative.<\/p>\n<p>            <!--  [embed]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=videoseries[\/embed]<!--\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>--><\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"LkRyMlLk2sM\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kasiebo Tau At 9:55 AM on Adom TV (23-6-22)\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LkRyMlLk2sM?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Farmers at Nkwanta South of the Oti Region who received the cashew seedlings some three years ago have started harvesting to make profits.
