Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, has asserted that Ken Ofori-Atta ‘s claim that government served food to 3,214,723 people during the COVID-19 pandemic is more than 10% of Ghana’s entire population.<\/p>\n

In a post shared on the official Facebook page of Okudzeto on Thursday, 23rd June 2023, he wrote;<\/p>\n

“We remember the chaotic scenes from government\u2019s food distribution in Accra, Tema, Kasoa and Kumasi during lockdown; however, Ken Ofori-Atta claimed in Parliament yesterday that government served 3,214,723 persons \u2014 that\u2019s more than 10% of Ghana\u2019s current population.”<\/p>\n

According to Okudzeto, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, provided the total cost as a staggering GHS54.34million (for hot food and dry food).<\/p>\n

He asked the government to kindly share their secret with the citizenry on how they did the counting despite the chaos and obvious lack of record-keeping?<\/p>\n

“It seems Parliament\u2019s joint committee of Health and Finance have been offered a really tough assignment.”.<\/p>\n

The comments of Okudzeto comes in wake of the COVID-19 budget expenditure accounts rendered to parliament by The Finance Ministry on 22nd June 2022. Earlier the Speaker of Parliament insisted that the Finance Minister must come and render accounts on the COVID-19 else parliament won’t attend to him when in need. The expenditure has finally been given to parliament.<\/p>\n
