{"id":1131434,"date":"2022-06-22T22:27:40","date_gmt":"2022-06-22T22:27:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/22\/ex-president-kufuors-positive-comments-is-a-tonic-for-bawumias-campaign\/"},"modified":"2022-06-22T22:27:40","modified_gmt":"2022-06-22T22:27:40","slug":"ex-president-kufuors-positive-comments-is-a-tonic-for-bawumias-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/22\/ex-president-kufuors-positive-comments-is-a-tonic-for-bawumias-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-President Kufuor\u2019s Positive Comments Is a Tonic For Bawumia\u2019s Campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<article>\n<p>Pollster Ben Ephson says recent positive comments made by former President John Agyekum Kufuor about the loyalty of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and for he being a \u201ctrue son\u201d, provide tonic \u2013 added boost to the Vice President\u2019s campaign in the run up to the governing party\u2019s presidential primary election. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/a793d7f91829436489cbe020cb2da78d\"\/><\/p>\n<p>It is obviously positive for the Vice President \u2013 a jab in the arm for Dr. Bawumia. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not saying he is not supporting John Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng but Kufuor\u2019s comments virtually give injection to Bawumia\u2019s acceptability among elderly people who will follow Kufuor and his choices.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Former Ex- President Kufuor spoke highly of Vice President Bawumia at a Fathers\u2019 Day event held in the Eastern Region, variously describing as someone who has been loyal, compliments that should ruffle people who have been questioning the roots of the Vice President in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP). <\/p>\n<p>The ex-President said Dr. Bawumia\u2019s admirable loyalty makes him stand out among his contemporaries. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has been like a son to me since he became a politician. He behaves like a true son, very loyal.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The complimentary remarks carry a lot of weight, not just symbolism. Vice President Bawumia and Allan Kwadwo Kyeremateng, the Trade and Industry Minister, are the frontrunners in the race for the governing party\u2019s 2024 presidential ticket. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/572d7f381bb94b7384b2775349255252\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Vice President Bawumia appears the man to beat in the NPP\u2019s presidential race but Dr Richard Amoako-Baah, a former Head of History and Political Science Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, thinks he should stand aside and wait for his time. <\/p>\n<p>Dr Amoako-Baah argues that the Vice President has no deep roots in the party. There are some leading members of the party who have been suggesting Bawumia-Alan Kyeremanteng ticket. <\/p>\n<p>Samuel Atta-Akyea, the MP for Abuakwa South, is one of those canvassing this. Some people would simply not want to hear that.
