{"id":1130642,"date":"2022-06-22T10:19:42","date_gmt":"2022-06-22T10:19:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/22\/inter-milan-to-sign-lukaku-on-season-long-loan-from-chelsea\/"},"modified":"2022-06-22T10:19:42","modified_gmt":"2022-06-22T10:19:42","slug":"inter-milan-to-sign-lukaku-on-season-long-loan-from-chelsea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/22\/inter-milan-to-sign-lukaku-on-season-long-loan-from-chelsea\/","title":{"rendered":"Inter Milan to sign Lukaku on season long loan from Chelsea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"624\" height=\"416\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/image_2022-06-22_082120386.png\"   alt=\"Romelu Lukaku\/ Photo Credit: Getty Images\" title=\"Romelu Lukaku\/ Photo Credit: Getty  Images\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Romelu Lukaku\/ Photo Credit: Getty  Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Italian club Inter Milan have agreed a deal to sign striker Romelu Lukaku on a season-long loan from Chelsea.<\/p>\n<p>The Blues signed the 29-year-old from Inter for \u00a397.5m in August 2021, but he will return to the Serie A side having struggled last season.<\/p>\n<p>The loan fee for Lukaku is about 8m euros (\u00a36.9m).<\/p>\n<p>The Belgium international scored 15 goals in all competitions for Chelsea last season, with eight in 26 Premier League appearances.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>It is understood Lukaku was willing to take a pay cut\u00a0to rejoin Inter, who won the Serie A title in 2020-21 with him leading their attack.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian club\u2019s financial situation meant it was impossible for them to match Lukaku\u2019s wages or buy the frontman outright.<\/p>\n<p>However, president Steven Zhang got involved personally in the negotiations on Monday, which was viewed as significant.<\/p>\n<p>Lukaku, who left Chelsea to join Everton for \u00a328m in 2014, returned to the Stamford Bridge side last summer on a five-year deal for a club-record fee.<\/p>\n<p>However,\u00a0he apologised for an interview\u00a0during the season where he said he was not happy with his role under Blues manager Thomas Tuchel and wanted to return to the Italian club in the near future.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/c364e0f6-7078-4dca-86e9-1c2a783017a6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"725\" height=\"487\"\/><figcaption>Photo Credit: Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lukaku scored only three times in his final 15 top-flight outings of the season as Chelsea\u2019s season fizzled out.<\/p>\n<p>Tuchel\u2019s side finished third in the Premier League, while they were beaten by Liverpool on penalties in both the FA Cup and League Cup finals.<\/p>\n<p>Inter finished second in Serie A last season, two points behind city rivals AC Milan.
