{"id":1129633,"date":"2022-06-21T10:39:12","date_gmt":"2022-06-21T10:39:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/21\/chelsea-chief-steps-down\/"},"modified":"2022-06-21T10:39:12","modified_gmt":"2022-06-21T10:39:12","slug":"chelsea-chief-steps-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/21\/chelsea-chief-steps-down\/","title":{"rendered":"Chelsea Chief Steps Down &#8211;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bruce Buck<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck will step down at the end of June after 19 years in the role, the Premier League club announced yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Buck, an American lawyer who was appointed in 2003 when former owner Roman Abramovich bought the club, will remain as a senior adviser after June 30.<\/p>\n<p>A group led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital acquired Chelsea in May after Abramovich put the club up for sale following Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am proud to have helped Chelsea realise great success on the pitch and make a positive impact in the community,\u201d Buck said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow is the right time to step down and let new ownership build on the strong foundations we have in place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe owners have a compelling vision for Chelsea\u2019s future, and I look forward to helping them achieve it in this new role alongside our incredible staff, players, coaches and supporters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 74-year-old oversaw huge success at Chelsea for both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams.
