According to Prophet Oduro, the President and government said no public monies will be utilized for the cathedral.<\/p>\n
Prophet Oduro, who favours a national cathedral, told OB Nartey on No.1 FM\u2019s mid-morning show Nyame Nsa Wom on 13 June 2022 that the president and administration are doing it incorrectly.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnyone who says we don\u2019t need a national cathedral is missing the point. The necessity for a national cathedral is 100% correct, but the way we\u2019re doing it could offend God, he added.<\/p>\n
The national mosque was built without a single cedi from this country. Turkish and Ghanaian Muslims erected it. Why not the cathedral? Why tax the country?<\/p>\n
\u201cSomethings are wrong. The president promised God. This technique and procedure cannot redeem that vow.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s perfect. \u201cYour methodology is wrong,\u201d he told the president. \u201cAbsolutely wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou said state funds wouldn\u2019t be used. We need state funds. Deception. Lies. He said, \u201cYou\u2019re building for God.\u201d<\/p>\n
In his view, President Akufo-Addo could have invited businesspeople to Jubilee House and asked for funding.<\/p>\n
He would have been surprised if just one person gave $100 million toward the cathedral\u2019s construction.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut the way we\u2019re handling it, we\u2019ll drag all these men of character on the cathedral board into the muck.\u201d<\/p>\n
