{"id":1120500,"date":"2022-06-13T16:10:55","date_gmt":"2022-06-13T16:10:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/13\/absa-bank-ghana-partners-guta-to-give-collateral-free-loans-to-traders\/"},"modified":"2022-06-13T16:10:55","modified_gmt":"2022-06-13T16:10:55","slug":"absa-bank-ghana-partners-guta-to-give-collateral-free-loans-to-traders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/06\/13\/absa-bank-ghana-partners-guta-to-give-collateral-free-loans-to-traders\/","title":{"rendered":"Absa Bank Ghana partners GUTA to give collateral-free loans to traders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Absa Bank Ghana has signed a partnership agreement with the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) to provide a loan scheme for members of the association.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank will offer collateral-free loan facility of up to GH\u00a2500,000 for traders and a special loan package of up to GH\u00a21 million for women-led businesses under GUTA.<\/p>\n<p>This was announced at an MoU signing ceremony event held in Accra between the bank and the association.<\/p>\n<p>The MoU was a result of a partnership between Absa Bank Ghana and the Mastercard Foundation called the Young Africa Works (YAW).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-859248 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/FB_IMG_1655120107486.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1440\" height=\"960\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Managing Director of Absa Bank Ghana, Abena Osei-Poku said Absa acknowledges the importance of small-scale businesses, which according to her contribute 75% to Ghana\u2019s GDP growth.<\/p>\n<p>She said the loans are intended to support operators of such businesses to remain relevant and for Ghana to leapfrog its journey to a more advanced middle-class economy.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-859249 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/FB_IMG_1655120102664.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1440\" height=\"960\"  \/><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt is firmly embedded in our ethos as a bank to ensure individuals, businesses, corporations, and other stakeholders have the ability to create wealth, meet the needs of their customers and contribute to economic transformation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat our partnership with GUTA will do is to give us a chance to introduce members to the diversity of products, services, and platforms we have to support and empower them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Young Africa Works is a five-year strategic partnership between Absa Bank Ghana and the Mastercard Foundation (MCF) with the goal of creating dignified and fulfilling jobs for young men and women in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>President of GUTA, Dr. Joseph Obeng said the support from Absa Bank is very timely for traders especially when businesses have taken a hit due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>He commended Absa Bank for making available the loan scheme facility through the partnership.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Absa Bank Ghana has signed a partnership agreement with the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) to provide a loan scheme for members of the association.
